Famous sightseeing place

Matsuyama Castle

Matsuyama Castle is rare type because it has not renovated recent years. You can see what was like in 17 centuries. Also, there are many cherry brossom in spring. You can enjoy the flower along the way to castle tower and ropeway. Plus, the castle is located on the hill, so you can enjoy wonderful view.

Saka no ue no kumo Museum

the building of this museum is designed by Tadao Ando. His architect is so famous, such as Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth(U.S.), Museum San (Korea), Shanghai Poly Grand Theater (China). Exhibit is mainly about the 19 century. Shiki Masaoka(Famous author of Haiku; traditional Japanese Poem)、Masayuki Akiyama (19 centuries’ military officer), Yoshifuru Akiyama(19 centuries’ military officer). You can learn what was like in those century in Japan with visual explain.

Bansuisou

It is French style building. In 19 century, it was 〇○’s one, but after that he donated it for education. There are gorgeous and elegant chandelier, fireplace, windows, and so on. Enjoy taking pictures and feel authentic French style.

Feris Wheel (Kururinn)

It is located the rooftop of Mitsukoshi department store. The price is 800 yen, but you can get some discount by many website. I used Mican App (Local payment app) to get free coupons. It is around 10 minutes, and you can see both Matsuyama Castle and other part of Matsuyama city. This place is not so crowded (when I visited, there was no other customers) so I recommend this place.

Dogo Hotspring

Here in Dogo Hotspring, there are three public hotsprings and many hotels with hot springs. In this time, I’d like to share public hot springs because it is much more affordable price, and all of those is located close.

Honnkann

It was built in 18 century so really historical. The inside is not barrier free because of historical building (steep stairs), Dogo Hotspring’s history is more than 2000 years, and I recommend to experience in historical place.

The water is clear and weak alkalinity, so good for beauty. Temperature is around 40, so it is normal Japanese style hotspring. Hair dryer is included, but shampoo and towel costs additional fee, so you should bring them.

Tsubaki-noyu

It is designed like 7 century architecture, but inside is modern. Hair dryer and shampoo is included. Also, it has both inside bath and outside bath. I prefer outside bath because cold air makes me cool down so I enjoy the bath more time. Lastly, you can enjoy projection mapping direction in a bathroom once in 30 minutes. It uses a wall tile paintings, and you can enjoy ancient hot spring history.

Beckmann Asukanoyu

It is designed like 7 century architecture, but inside is modern. Hair dryer and shampoo is included. Also, it has both inside bath and outside bath. I prefer outside bath because cold air makes me cool down so I enjoy the bath more time. Lastly, you can enjoy projection mapping direction in a bathroom once in 30 minutes. It uses a wall tile paintings, and you can enjoy ancient hot spring history.

Isaniwa shrine

It is not hot spring, but this place looks so traditional, and great atmosphere. Although it is located at the top of the hill, so you have to go up many stairs, the view is nice. Plus, the building is beautiful.

Shikoku Karst Topography

it is located between Ehime prefecture to Kochi prefecture. You can enjoy mysterious view of white rock and light green grasses, and blue sky. The moment I visited was mist, but it was still good.

Shimonada Station

This is small local station, but famous for its view. During the day, you can enjoy its great blue sky and sea behind, but sunset is famous, too. it was used some Japanese famous TV drama, and really photo genic spots. After you visited the station, you can enjoy driving along the sea.

Shimanami Kaido

You can enjoy Shimanami Sea Road by bike and car. If you drive directly from Imabari to Onomichi, it is around 1.5 hours, but the main point of this road is hanging around on the way. The road passes 6 Islands; Oshima, Omishima, Hakatashima, Ikuchijima, Innoshima, Mukaishima, and each island has own history, and local food. For example, Ikuchijima is famous for lemon, and Innoshima is famous for Hassaku (One of Japanese orange. It’s like grapefruits)

Innnoshima Suigun Castle

This castle is not as big as Matsuyama catsle, but you can learn Kaizoku history. By 17 century, there were Kaizoku (Japanese pirates) in this sea, but Japanese Kaizoku is different from western Pirates or Biking. Japanese Kaizoku knows complex sea stream, and guided or gurded important ships. However, once a ship break the rule, Kaizoku punished them. You can see Japanese armor for sea buttles here.

Murakami Kaizoku Museum

This is the museum about Kaizoku, too. Murakami Kaizoku is famous in 16 century for foreigners, too. Some Portuguese books mentioned about them. You can learn the history visually, also its museum has great viewing. Also, English is available.

Kirousann Panorama Park

This park is on the hill so great viewing. You can see all 360° Setouchi sea and islands with bridges. It is little bit difficult to drive because steep slope, but the view is wonderful. Also the top of the hill has souvenior stores.
