Study in Australia 5 – Beautiful Excursion

Overseas

Hi, there. Today, I’ll write about last Thursday day. I had an excursion to Maiden’s Reserve, and a cultural dinner, in the evening.

Maiden’s Reserve

First of all, at Maiden’s Reserve, there was a pretty good trail, and we enjoyed hiking. There were some beautiful flowers around the trail, and I was impressed with the view. I was in the alpine club when I was a senior high school student, so I was really happy to visit there, and I enjoyed it a lot. I want to visit again, and hike more. After that, we walked down the trail, and to a beach. There were no people there, so we enjoyed it as if it was our own private beach. We could see big waves, sea gulls, colourful shells, and a horizon!!!!!!! I was surprised that I was looking at the Indian Ocean. In Japan, we can only see the Pacific Ocean, and the Japan Sea, also there is no horizon, because we have lots of islands. However, here, we could see it clearly. We ate our lunch there and enjoyed the beach for a while.

Culture Night

Then we had Culture Night in the evening. I ate pavlova for the first time in my life. It is traditional Australian dessert. I heard that Australian people eat them when they celebrate something, like someone’s birthday, Christmas day, and so on. I tasted it, and felt it was too sweet for me. There were some fruits on the top, but it was not enough. The taste was different than I expected. Although I predicted it was as soft as sponge cakes, and as sweet as TIMTAM original flavour, when I tasted its top it was much softer because it was meringue, and the bottom was crunchy. In addition, we shared our culture with each other. Natsuki’s buddy is from New Zealand, and she brought special stone which was given to her by her grandfather. The stone gives her courage, and reminds her of her family is always near. We have nothing traditional to remind us of our family, so it was a big difference between Japan and New Zealand. Also, the stone’s colour was blue, and really beautiful.

In conclusion, last Thursday was amazing and exciting for me. I hope the kind of day will come again, soon. See ya next week!!
